Tameside College in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, is a diverse and vibrant further education college that offers a wide range of courses including A level and advanced level vocational study programmes, apprenticeships and adult courses up to degree level. We aim to give all our students an exceptional experience.

We are a good College with a determination to become outstanding. The Board of Governors is seeking exceptional candidates to join it to help support the College on its journey.

You will have skills and experience in at least one of the following areas:

• Business leadership
• Education
• Finance / accountancy

Furthermore, you will have the ambition, ability and necessary commitment to take on a leadership role on the Board.

With a full agenda, this is an exciting time to be a Governor of Tameside College. Key current challenges include:

  1. Expanding higher education and apprenticeships provision;
  2. Developing an exciting and relevant vocational provision, including preparing for the introduction of T Levels
  3. Improving teaching, learning and assessment to ensure a first class learning experience that leads to excellent student outcomes
  4. Implementing the College’s Property Strategy. Adding to recent successful capital projects such as the Clarendon Sixth Form Campus, the Advanced Technology Centre, and the newly opened Tameside One site in the centre of Ashton, the Board of Governors is now overseeing the construction of an £11m Construction Skills Centre. As well as providing a first class construction skills facility, this project is key to enabling further development of the Beaufort Road site
  5. Maintaining outstanding financial health while improving the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, providing a high quality physical learning environment and rewarding staff appropriately for their work.
