Working Pattern: All year round, 36 hrs per week

We require a highly skilled, passionate and motivated individual to lead our Pastoral and Safeguarding Team. You will co-ordinate Safeguarding and Mental Health strategy cross college in accordance with DFE guidance, local safeguarding procedures and Ofsted requirements. You will work alongside curriculum and other team leaders to implement effective strategies which meet the needs of individual students by removing barriers to learning and allowing them to reach their full potential. You will ensure that all students are able to achieve successful outcomes: academically, socially and in their progression to further study or employment. You will pro-actively promote the safety and wellbeing of students throughout the college and ensure all staff are up to date with their Safeguarding training.

You will have a sound understanding of the issues facing students with mental health and/or safeguarding needs and be skilled in communicating with students, parents/carers and multi-agencies in varied and challenging situations. You will have a problem solving approach, and the ability to inspire and motivate your team. You will have experience of child protection procedures and knowledge of government strategy in relation to Safeguarding, Prevent and Mental Health.

This role will carry responsibility for:

  • Line Management of the Pastoral Team and case management
  • The quality of safeguarding and mental health support including reporting on data and trends
  • Working in partnership with a range of agencies
  • Ensuring that cross college training is up to date and fit for purpose
  • Leading on key projects and campaigns
  • Working alongside other team leaders to implement our Acceptable Behaviour Policy as and where relevant
